Fall is officially here! Here in Pennsylvania we went from 80 degree weather down to 40s at night in a week! But with the arrival of fall, we can now break out the seasonal recipes!
Every year that I can remember my mom, sister and I would make applesauce. Well if I’m completely honest our mom did most the cooking, and my sister and I were just helpers! Either way we were always super excited when she was making applesauce, and there always was a disagreement between my siblings of who would get to eat the fresh applesauce first!
What I love about making applesauce is how easy it is and its a healthy snack for the kids as well!
10 Apples (any variety will work, use less sugar if you use honeycrisp or granny smith apples)
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Start out by peeling, coring and cutting the apples in wedges. Put water in the pot to cover the apples. Put the apples on low.
Let the apples slowly cook down. Approximately 15-20 mins. Be sure to stir apples. Once the apples have cooked down use an immersion blender or let the applesauce chucky whichever one you prefer. Mix in sugar and cinnamon a little bit at a time until desired sweetness.
